    Joe Armstrong

    Co-inventor of

    Erlang

    Joe Armstrong is a co-inventor of Erlang. When at the Ericsson computer science lab in 1986, he was part of the team who designed and implemented the first version of Erlang. He has written several Erlang books including Programming Erlang Software for a Concurrent World.

     

    Joe has a PhD in computer science from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden and is an expert in the construction of fault tolerant systems.

    Rachel Reese

    Senior Software Engineer

    Rachel is a long-time software engineer and math geek who can often be found talking to random strangers about the joys of functional programming and F#.

     

    She currently helps run the Nashville F# User group, @NashFSharp, and previously ran the Burlington, VT functional programming user group, @VTFun. She's also an ASPInsider, an F# MVP, a community enthusiast, one of the founding @lambdaladies, and a Rachii.

    Stéphane Nicoll

    Senior Software Engineer

    PIVOTAL

    Stéphane has a thing for code quality and robustness. He’s been spreading the word for more than ten years while developing large scale Java enterprise applications in the geospatial, financial, or logistics sectors.

     

    An Apache Maven PMC member since 2006, he joined the core Spring Framework development team early 2014 and focuses on Spring Boot lately.

    During his free time, he loves travelling around the world.

    Justin Miller

    Mobile

    MAPBOX

    Justin began the mobile efforts at Mapbox in 2010 and today helps lead development of the iOS and Android SDKs, works on experimental prototyping, and assists with teambuilding efforts. He’s been working in Apple's programming environments for fifteen years, programming professionally for twenty, and has a background in systems administration, web development, and building startups. He ran a solo consultancy for five years during the early days of the app stores, creating apps for clients and for himself. In his free time, Justin enjoys world travel, photography, hiking, and baking pies.

    Etienne Studer

    VP of Product Tooling

    Etienne acts as VP of Product Tooling at Gradle Inc. He has been working as a developer, architect, project manager, and CTO over the past 16 years. Etienne has spent most of his time building software products from the ground up and successfully shipping them to happy customers.

     

    He had the privilege to work in different domains like linguistics, banking, logistics, process management, and now build automation.

    Maciek Próchniak

    Maciek is algebraic topologist, for more than 10 years developing on JVM for food and pleasure.

    Currently interested mostly mainly in stream processing, scala and osgi. Likes to speak at conferences from Bergen to Cairo on wide range of topics.

     

    For 8 years happy @ TouK, and even more happy husband and father.

    Estelle Weyl

    Open Web Evangelist

    Estelle started her professional life in architecture, then managed teen health programs. In 2000, she took the natural step of becoming a web standardista.

     

    Estelle shares esoteric tidbits learned while programming and detailed grids of CSS3 and HTML5 browser support in her blog. She is a coauthor of Mobile HTML5, CSS: The Definitive Guide 4th Edition, and HTML5 and CSS3 for the Real World. While not coding, Estelle works in construction, de-hippifying her 1960s throwback abode.

    Rob Napier

    iOS Developer

    Rob is co-author of iOS Programming Pushing the Limits, and maintainer of the RNCryptor encryption format.

    Before coming to Cocoa, he made his living sneaking into Chinese facilities in broad daylight.

     

    Today, he shapes music over Bluetooth for Logitech, explores old ideas in new languages, and tries to figure out how all of this applies to Swift.

    Matthias Rampke

    Matthias joined SoundCloud in 2011 to help with internal IT.

     

    As part of the Systems and Production Engineering teams, he has been operating, debugging and frequently restarting the glue that holds SoundCloud together since 2013.

    Sangsoo Nam

    Sangsoo is passionate about learning, discussing, and solving interesting problems. In the past, he worked as a full stack developer in the start-up industry. These days, he is focusing on the Android development at Spotify.

     

    Sangsoo strongly believes that everyone is solving their problem creatively. He looks forward to the opportunities of sharing his learnings and listening to others.
